Investigation

Watchful, patient, precise

The investigation strand of Aberdeen Dream.scot CIC studies how public institutions treat the people they serve. Its method is long, open-source observation: systematic, documented, and slow by design, because findings that survive years of scrutiny are the only ones worth publishing.

Our guiding framework is the European Convention on Human Rights, and our reading of it is practical rather than theoretical — rights matter at the counter, in the letter, and in the file, not only in the courtroom.

How we work

  • Long observation. We keep records over months and years, not days, before drawing conclusions.
  • Open sources. Wherever possible, our evidence comes from publicly verifiable material, and every claim in our published work carries a reference.
  • Neutral presentation. We report what the record shows, including what does not support our expectations.
  • Practical output. The investigation feeds the public letter templates on our Publications page, so that what we learn serves others directly.

We also follow fraud-tracking research relevant to community organisations, because civic work must be able to defend itself.
